Apple Cider Vinegar?

Apple cider vinegar. It’s strong, sour, and not at all pleasant. So why do I subject myself to drinking it every morning?

One of my favorite YouTubers talked about the benefits of drinking apple cider vinegar. It peaked my interest so I did some research. I was pleasantly amazed at what I found. Who knew the amazing things it does to your body!

Some of the benefits include:

Banishing bad breath due to its anti-bacterial properties. (Check out my oil pulling post for more on banishing bad breath!) Apple cider vinegar can also help break down plaque. There is very limited research into oral health benefits and apple cider vinegar, but there isn’t any evidence to point to it not helping.

Apple cider vinegar helps out your body. According to the International Journal of Obesity and the journal of Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, drinking apple cider vinegar has helped people lose weight. It kick starts your metabolism and, along side water, helps wake your organs first thing in the morning. It also aids digestion. Foods that have been fermented, such as vinegar, encourage healthy gut bacteria to grow. This goes hand-in-hand with weight loss.  It also helps improve insulin sensitivity to high-carb meals; making it a beneficial step in keeping blood sugar levels in check.

Mix about 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to 8-12 ounces of water to dilate the bitterness. Avoid drinking it straight; it’s acidic properties could irritate the esophagus. Drink it before your breakfast and boom! You started your day off with water and helped out your metabolism before drinking your morning coffee.
